The AntiChevron Day is a global activity that arose on May 21, 2014, as an initiative promoted by the Union of the Affected People by Texaco (UDAPT). This activity is one of the most important activities worldwide and is promoted by this organization. The objective is not only to evidence the environmental damage left by the company during the exploration and exploitation of oil fields in the Ecuadorian Amazon, but also to influence shareholders to stop their investments in the oil company.
Four years ago, UDAPT detected isolated protest actions and therefore planned to join the complaints related to the systematic violation of human and environmental rights, and indeed to highlight the Chevron case. In the first year of the initiative, it managed to sign an agreement informing Chevron that, since that date (May 21, 2014), the affected people around the world would joined their struggles to demand the fulfillment of the Ecuadorian sentence, which demands the reparation of the Amazon, of the affected people, the respect of their rights and the safeguard of the environment.
