The inhabitants of the Amazonian provinces of Sucumbíos and Orellana are surrounded by oil fields, pipelines and, above all, the famous "mecheros" (flares). Many farmers have built their farms where they could, without being aware of the danger of keeping a mechero a few hundred meters away. However, over the years, having witnessed the damage to their health and the environment, the inhabitants of the area have become aware of the seriousness of the situation.
As UDAPT, it is our duty to collect the testimonies and petitions of these people, who have been ignored and abandoned by the institutions for too many years. Our objective is to achieve the removal of these infernal towers, through the constant work of institutional pressure that we have been carrying out for years both in the capital and in the local government offices.
